I am a huge fan of Clinique’s Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm I really love the Poppin’ Poppy shade 01. It’s a double effect a lip treatment with sheer colour that relieves dry, cracked lips and providing immediate miniaturisation. The Chubby stick has always had its distinct pen style applicator, and it seems that many of the makeup companies have caught on to the popularity of this fantastic product, so I thought I would give them a run for their money and try them out.
After a little shopping trip with the kids in toe, not the best plan especially when they decided the EOS Lip Balms would make great balls to throw around, I came home with two of Revlon’s very own version the Lacquer Lip Balm and the very on trend Matt Lip Balm.
The Revlon Lacquer Balm offers super shine brilliant colour infused with a triple butter complex. It’s available in 10 shades mainly consisting on pink and purple shades. I purchased the Demuire Reservee shade 105. This lip colour goes on effortlessly and has mint infused into it to give your lips a lovely tingle. I really love the colour and the shine, it’s a great everyday colour that just gives your lips a little pop. It really moisturises your lips and defiantly helps with drying and cracking. My only grip would be that it’s has a slight gritty feel to it, but overall this is a great lasting lip colour/balm that really does what it say on the tin.
The Matt Balm was one that really interested me as this is their newest addition to this collection and it is one of the biggest lip colour trends of the moment. Again it is available in 10 shades, main in pink tones. Matt lip colour really is the ‘big thing ‘and after seeing a few friends trying it out I thought I would try it myself. I’ve never really been a big ‘lipstick’ person, I’ve always swayed more towards lip gloss or tints. I decided to try the Elusive Insaisissable 205 shade. This gorgeous moisturising balm, literally goes on like butter and really stays that way, it again has that little minty kick for added zing. It glides on effortlessly and the colour really lasts. The beautiful bold colour really makes your lips pop, I couldn’t believe how many compliments I received, it really has converted me to using lip colour more often. It’s actually hard to pick a flaw in this product, but if I really have to think of something, it would be nice to use a lip liner just to give a little bit more definition to the lip line.
I’ve always been a fan of Clinique in general, and I really do love their products including their Chubby Stick Lip Colour Balms, but have I been swayed by the cheaper Revoln versions? I sure have! At just £7.99, which is more than half the price of the Clinique version which retails at £17.00, they are a serious bargain buy, especially as they really do what they say on the tin. They have the same pen style shape and retractable chubby crayon so there’s no need to sharpen, but they also have the added benefit of a minty zing to really make your lips tingle. I have great little a collection now, I just have to make sure the kids don’t confuse them for actual crayons…that would be an expensive mistake!
