Looking for something different to do this Christmas period? Why not try Longleat’s Festival of Light!
A day out at a Safari Park isn’t exactly the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Christmas, and it wasn’t something we would have thought to do, but I recently saw an advert for their Christmas activities and decided to check it out, and I have to say it really is fantastic.
Longleat, of course, has the Safari Park however it also has Europe’s biggest display of illuminated features. There are giant dragons, pagodas, and they’re very own safari animals. There are hundreds to see including Longleat’s very own singing Christmas tree, which is a spectacular light show set to music.
There is so much to do but we began with the Sarafi Drive-Thru, which was a little bit quiet as the weather wasn’t great, but we still saw cheeky Monkeys who climbed over the car, Zebras, Rhinos, Lions, Tigers and Wolves, before heading into the main area of the park where at 4pm the Festival Lights were switched on, and all I can say is wow!
There are literally hundreds of huge features and figures created from silk and lit from inside, the effect is simply wonderful, it’s Christmas lights on another level. There are giant flowers, pandas, sharks, dragons, a terracotta army, a huge display of Safari Animals and so much more.
There is plenty more to keep you entertained with rides for the little ones, ice skating, and even Santa’s Train Ride, and to finish off the spectacular Singing Christmas Tree, which got everyone dancing!

This really is something special and worth the money, it’s a whole day out, there is so much to do so get there early and make the most of it.
Highly recommended, defiantly worth the trip!
