It’s easy to think you can’t afford a style or look, or justify a new outfit, but in the UK we are so lucky to have an amazing high street full of wonderfully affordable fashion, not to mention the super markets are doing an amazing job of channelling catwalk looks, it’s never been easier to achieve the style you love for less…with a little smart shopping that is.
Weather you’re adding a single piece to your wardrobe or need a look for a new job or occasion, as I’ve said before, style doesn’t need to cost you the earth. It was only recently I saw a TV ad full of great looks and styles, I didn’t realise until the end of the ad it was for F&F at Tesco. We are so lucky to have such affordable fashion, weather it’s Primark, New Look, Next, H&M, George at ASDA or TU at Sainsbury’s (gotta love their 25%) we’re spoilt for choice.
One thing I love to do, my little secret if you like, is have a potter around other stores and gather ideas for looks I can emulate. For example, yesterday I was in Next and I saw a great look that included a scarf. This item was only £24 but the colour wasn’t quiet right. Although I loved the Layed Scarf Top from Next it really would have been a stand alone item, it really wouldn’t have worked with much more in my wardrobe…I like to get my most out of any purchase.
Nipping next door to H&M I was able to achieve the same style in a colour more suitable for just £22.99. I brought a cream Oversized Jumper, which is a huge trend for this winter, for just £14.99, and the Scarf for £7.99. While I was there I also picked up a great pair of Jeans for the bargain price of just £14.99.
All in all I managed to purchase an entire outfit for just £37.97! Even better, with a little bit of clever thinking I managed to buy items I can incorporate into my capsule wardrobe (click link to see post), which means I can get even more wear out of the pieces making them even better value for money.
Next time you’re wondering if you can justify a new look, why not try my little trick; figure out the type of look you like and see if you can achieve it for less or as I did with this look, adapt it so you will get more wear out of it by incorporating it into your current wardrobe. As I said, although I love the Layered Top from Next it really would have been a stand alone item, but with a little bit of smart shopping I now have a few new pieces to add to my capsule wardrobe giving me an even bigger range of looks, and who doesn’t love that.
I LOVE AUTUMN WINTER FASHION!
