There is nothing better than having a wardrobe change up, a capsule wardrobe is one of the best ways to give your look an overhaul. It doesn’t need to cost you the earth and you do not need to buy lots of pieces to achieve it. With a bit of clever shopping and using items you already have you can create endless looks with just twelve items, yes just twelve!
Creating a capsule wardrobe can be very easy, your pieces should all interchange and work together in one way or another. Shops such as New Look make it extremely easy for shoppers to do this, they create sections in their shops dedicated to certain trends, looks and styles.
One of the hottest looks for this season is the 60/70’s inspired look. The colours for this look are great for interchangeable items, the tones work well together, they generally have a warm brown/orange hue, and mix and match effortlessly.
When shopping you can save money by keeping an eye out for similar colours and styles in the season sales, looks and colours do cross over from one season to another. One of my biggest money saving tips is to buy well in the sales. Only ever buy something you genuinely like, don’t buy it because it’s cheap/cheaper or seems like a good deal. Buy things that will work with items you all ready have, I like to make sure I will get my wear out of something, even if it only costs £3.
When buying items for your capsule wardrobe don’t assume you have to go out and buy twelve new items, you don’t, use items you already have, such as boots, jumpers, belts etc. to add to your look.
So here’s how its works…
I purchased seven new items and used five items I already owned, making sure they all worked together.
- Crochet Waistcoat – New Look £9
- Suede Effect Dress – New Look £7
- Chelsea Boots – New Look £24.99
- Oversized Cardigan – River Island £49.99
- Roll Neck (Sleeveless) – New Look £6
- Dreamweaver Top – New Look £7
- Crochet Top – New Look £5
- Leather Jacket – John Rocha £199
- Skirt – New Look £10
- Skinny Jeans – H&M £12.99
- Roll Neck – New Look £8.99
- Knee High Boots – River Island £120
… then I had lots of fun mixing and matching them.
Below are just a few of the many interchangeable ways I found to wear them. I tried even more but these where just a few of my favourites, but seriously the amount of ways you can wear a seemingly small number of items is amazing. The keys is that they work together!
